Try Camping on Easter Island

Professor Sheila Crispin with her own two dogs, Maisie and MaddieThere’s nothing I enjoy more in the world than going camping. I feel as if I could become part of the natural environment that surrounds me. I think it was my father who taught me everything I know to survive in the outdoors because he was such a passionate man that every time he could he went hiking, climbing, fishing or camping. It was his way of unwinding and of being connected to his sensitive side. Ever since I was a little girl he taught me how to put up a tent and how to start a bonfire. I remember that he was on a camping trip in Easter Island when he had an accident and there was nothing we could do. So now, after ten years of that terrible episode in which my dad died, I’m going camping to the island to try to understand why he loved it so much there.
